Gann's Prediction of the Great Depression and the Stock Market Crash of 1929

Page 5 of W.D. Gann's promotional brochure "Learn Before You Lose" stated, "In the spring of 1927, Mr. Gann wrote 'The Tunnel Thru the Air, or Looking Back from 1940'...in this book Mr. Gann said that from 1929 to 1932 there would be the worst panic in the world's history."

In his Annual Stock Forecast for 1929, Gann predicted a top in the market on August 7-8, 1929.  The actual top of 381.17 in the Dow Jones Industrial Average took place not long thereafter on September 3, 1929.

On page 82 of "The Tunnel Thru the Air," W.D. Gann wrote, "The years 1928 and 1930 to 1932 are to be years of famine, depressing business conditions and panic, not only in Europe, but in the United States.  The maximum evil of the great 1,000-year cycle, which will not be completed until 1932 to 1934, will bring serious troubles to the United States.  Another bad period for the United States will be 1940 to 1944."

The years 1930 and 1932 coincided with the inception of the Great Depression in the United States.  The years 1940 to 1944 roughly coincided with the years during which World War II took place.

Without us knowing the specific weights Gann used to generate his forecast, there would be a significant amount of judgment involved in re-creating Gann's 1929 forecast.

However, we can use the Generate Siderograph Weights spreadsheets to approximate Gann's forecast as closely as possible.

The video below (also posted above) provides an overview of how to replicate Gann's 1929 Annual Stock Forecast.

Conclusion

This month's New Technique goes over how to replicate Gann's 1929 Annual Stock Forecast by identifying the planetary aspects Gann may have included in his forecast.

Also, a similar approach could be used for generating weights based on a security's highest historical highs and lowest historical lows (i.e., to set weights based on planetary aspects that took place during a security's highest historical highs and its lowest historical lows).

If the Dow Jones Industrial Average continues to follow this custom siderograph with weights based on Gann's 1929 Annual Stock Forecast, we could see a high in the DJIA around September 2019.
